Dr. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, popularly known as Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, was one of India’s most respected scientists and the 11th President of India. He was born on 15th October 1931 in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, into a humble family. Despite facing financial challenges in his early life, he was a hardworking and curious student, with a deep interest in science and mathematics.

He studied physics and later aerospace engineering at the Madras Institute of Technology (MIT). Dr. Kalam joined the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and later the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), where he played a key role in India's satellite and missile programs. He was a crucial figure in the development of India's first satellite launch vehicle (SLV-III) and the successful Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998.

Known as the “Missile Man of India” for his work on ballistic missile technology, Dr. Kalam was honored with many awards, including the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award.

In 2002, he became the President of India, serving until 2007. He was widely known as the “People’s President” due to his humility, simplicity, and connection with the youth.

After his presidency, Dr. Kalam continued to inspire students through lectures and writings. He strongly believed in the power of education and youth. His famous books include Wings of Fire, Ignited Minds, and India 2020.

Dr. Kalam passed away on 27th July 2015, while delivering a lecture at IIM Shillong. His life continues to inspire millions of Indians to dream big and work hard to achieve their goals.
